The result

Barcelona completed a 3–0 home win over Getafe at Camp Nou in La Liga’s eighth round. The scoreline reflected a match in which the hosts held the ball for 83% of the contest, made 862 passes and restricted Getafe to four shots in total.

Anthony Gordon set the tone almost immediately. His right-footed finish in the second minute put Barcelona ahead, and Gabriel Jesus doubled the advantage with another right-footed goal on 30 minutes. Barcelona went into the interval two goals clear and added the only goal of the second half through Jules Koundé in the 73rd minute.

Fast start, lasting control

The opening goal gave Barcelona an early platform, and the statistical picture shows how firmly they controlled the remainder of the game. Barcelona recorded 150 attacks to Getafe’s 53, including 70 dangerous attacks compared with 27. They also earned nine corners, while Getafe had two.

The hosts produced 23 total shots, with eight on target, and registered 16 efforts from inside the box. Getafe managed one shot on target and only one effort from inside the area. Barcelona created seven big chances; six were missed, a reminder that the margin could have been even larger despite the three-goal victory.

Ball circulation was a major feature of the performance. Barcelona completed 787 of 862 passes for a 91% completion rate, against Getafe’s 106 successful passes from 173 attempts at 61%. The home side also made 20 key passes to Getafe’s four, underlining the sustained volume of their chance creation.

Goals and key moments

Gordon’s second-minute opener was Barcelona’s first decisive moment. Jesus made it 2–0 on the half-hour, and the score stayed unchanged through the break.

Barcelona made a double change in the 61st minute, with Fermín López replacing Gavi and Pedri coming on for Dani Olmo. At 71 minutes, Karim Adeyemi replaced Gordon and Marc Bernal came on for Rodri. Two minutes later, Koundé struck with his left foot to make it 3–0, with Lamine Yamal credited with the assist.

The final change saw Hamza Abdelkarim replace Jesus in the 82nd minute. Both teams used five substitutions across the match.

Koundé leads the ratings

Koundé was named Player of the Match with an 8.29 rating. His goal capped an influential individual display, and he finished ahead of Barcelona’s Rodri, rated 8.10, and Yamal, rated 8.06. Jesus received a 7.65 rating after scoring the second goal, while Gordon was rated 7.53 after opening the scoring.

For Getafe, goalkeeper David Soria posted the side’s highest rating at 7.09 and made five saves. Barcelona goalkeeper Joan García made one save as the home side preserved the clean sheet.

Discipline and the closing stages

There was no late change to the outcome. Barcelona closed out a clear 3–0 win, built on two first-half goals, a third after the interval and overwhelming control of possession and attacking output.
